For the past few weeks my inbox has been bombarded by Easter and spring themed offers and promotions. This is certainly not unusual but it does propose a problem for retailers. When everyone is sending holiday promotions, how do you make yours stand out in the crowd? Every now and then I see an example that does just that. Today I received this email from American Apparel. There are several things I like about it. It doesn’t use the typical imagery you’d associate with Easter. No eggs or flowers here, instead it accomplishes the holiday feeling through color selection and the message itself. “Your Hunt For a Great Deal” I assume is a clever take on hunting for Easter eggs. I also like the unconventional use of type design as well. The staggering of big bold text definitely adds visual interest.
